These original, vintage cinema/theatre chairs date from around the 1930s and have been given a loving restoration coupled with an Art Deco-inspired & unique makeover. They would make an authentic and charming addition to a home cinema or useful, minimally intrusive yet striking seating for a hallway or reception room.

As these are vintage seats, they've seen their fair share of use if furniture could speak, what tales these chairs could tell! Which has afforded them the odd dint and ding as one would expect from a piece of well loved furniture. They are far from perfect, however this, I believe, lends them a charm that you'll not find in a modern alternative.

They are also really well made, sturdy, and surprisingly comfortable! Over time, they will age and take on a new patina, adding another layer to the rich history these chairs have seen. On a practical note, there are drill holes in the base enabling the unit to be secured to the floor if so desired. The base of the unit has been painted in Vintage with Grace mineral paint, in the colour'Mr Darcy' which is a deep charcoal-black. The lines on the chair backs are painted in'Mr Darcy' and Frenchic's Frensheen in gold mixed with Polyvine heavy duty varnish. The numbers and'showgirl' deco stencils on each end are also painted in Frensheen gold.

For extra durability, the base of the unit has been given two coats of Polyvine heavy duty varnish in dead flat matt on top of the polyvine varnish built in to the Vintage with Grace paint. For shine and durability the wooden seats, chair backs and armrests have been given a coat of Polyvine heavy duty varnish, as well as five coats of Polyvine gloss lacquer. In order to preserve the design on the chair backs I would recommend removing any clothing with metal/hard embellishments before sitting. During the restoration, some of the original rubber stoppers between the seat & chair backs, and the underside of each seat have been retained, whilst perished ones have been replaced. Each seat folds down freely and tilts back into the upright position when not in use.
