Center speakers are designed to process audio content such as speech dialogue and vocals, with this in mind the engineers at SVS have created a very lightweight and rigid polypropylene cone for the mid-range driver that has a flat frequency response and to generate the necessary sound pressure levels for incredible in-room dynamics and a wide sound-stage. The mid-range driver has its own sub-enclosure within the cabinet to prevent inter-modulation from the woofers. The 1 aluminum dome tweeter is lightweight, efficient and strong, being very clear at high levels for a sense of total transparency whilst giving an airy presentation with stunningly high frequency representation, so female vocals are crisp, level and clear. The 5.25 woofers are built on an all-new cast ABS-fiberglass composite basket for accurate component alignment with an inert frame that does not cause unwanted resonances or any added harmonics. The crossover in the Prime Center is SVS's patented SoundMatch crossover, that has high-grade capacitors, air-core inductors and heavy-trace printed circuit boards. The combination of high-quality components means the speaker has low distortion, tight tolerances and better sound for the critical, vocal and action-focused sound-stage. The 3-way crossover has been tuned so each driver blends seamlessly together, with a respectable on- and off-axis response with accurate spatial imaging.
