One advancement that allows the SB16-Ultra to handle the power of a 16-inch driver is the 8-inch edge wound voice coil, this is largest ever deployed in a consumer subwoofer. The SVS innovations ensure ultra-low distortion, efficient heat dissipation, exceptional linearity and nearly zero power compression.

By definition, large drivers are more difficult to control, but the new voice coil design ensures accuracy in the frequency response and phase resonse without ever sounding boomy. The subs driver has four huge, dedicated toroidal ferrite magnets that unleash a staggering 78mm peak to peak excursion and the highest levels of motor force and palpable SPLs. The 16-inch Ultra driver cone is light and rigid consisting of a premium fiberglass resin composite with optimal stiffness to mass ratio to maximize the movement of air and acoustic energy without ever distortion or lack of control.

This sub is conservatively rated at 1,500 watts continuous, 5,000+ watts peak power, the SB16-Ultra Sledge STA-1500D amplifier's 64 Amp 200-Volt MOSFETs are the pure muscle behind this highly powerful and high fidelity subwoofer amplifier ever developed. The SB16-Ultra smartphone app is compatible with Apple® and Android® platforms, that allows you to unleash the full depth, force and nuance of this super fine subwoofer. The app controls all DSP capabilities and conveniently stores custom presets.

The app allows you to fine tune bass surpassing 16Hz at reference volumes from the comfort of your listening position. This is a subwoofer capable of creating such extreme levels of acoustic energy and consequently that requires an equally robust cabinet design.
